Snakes in Mythology

There are many stories through history that have snakes in them. Some of these stories include Adam and Eve, Medusa and St. Patrick.

Adam and Eve

In the Bible is the story of Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were the first people on Earth and they lived in the Garden of Eden.

In the garden was the Tree of Knowledge, which God told them not to eat from. One day the Devil disguised as a snake told Eve to eat fruit from the tree. God became angry and banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.

Medusa

In Greek mythology, there is a story of a woman named Medusa. She was very beautiful until she made Athena angry.

Athena put a curse on Medusa which turned her hair to snakes and any body that looks into her eyes will be turned to stone.

St. Patrick

It is said that St. Patrick banished all of the snakes out of Ireland.

The fact is there were no snakes in Ireland at all because the water was too cold for them to migrate there .
